Tombstone is in the southeast part of the State of Arizona, 21 mi (34 km) northwest of Bisbee. It is now a health and tourist resort although formerly was notable for mining of silver, gold, and lead. Tombstone was given its name in 1877 by prospector Ed Schieffelin, who discovered silver in locality after he had been warned that all he would find here would be his tombstone. Its human population is 1,220.

Where is Tombstone?
By Car...
Tombstone is a one hour drive south of Tucson, Arizona. From
Tucson take Interstate 10 south to Benson, Arizona (48 miles to Benson),
then take State Highway 80 to Tombstone (23 miles).
Airports...
Tucson International, Sierra Vista Municipal Airport, Tombstone
Municipal Airport (no services, 5000 foot oiled surface, only tie-down
facilities, no security). No car rentals are available in Tombstone, but
there are numerous car rental agencies in Sierra Vista, and all major car
rental agencies in Tucson.

OK Corral
The World Famous OK Corral is an absolute must to see while visiting
Tombstone! The Old West’s most famous gunfight known as "The Gunfight
at the OK Corral" that actually took place in a vacant lot behind
the OK Corral is what started it all. To visit Tombstone without seeing
the famous OK Corral, would be like going to Disneyland without seeing
Mickey Mouse!

The Famous Bird Cage Theatre is one of the only famous original buildings
left in Tombstone, besides the Schieffelin Hall and the Court House. In
it’s heyday, the Bird Cage was the Wildest, rowdiest, place in the Wild
West!. To visit the famous Bird Cage is like walking back 100 years in
time! Daily Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rattlesnake Ranch
Off the beaten path on a well maintain dirt road, but well worth
visiting is the World Famous Rattle Snake Ranch. Located about 13 miles
North West on Gleeson Rd. Lots of Rattlesnake and Apache Indian Crafts.
Open daily till sundown.
Gleeson Ghost Town
This is an old turquoise mining ghost town, located about 15 miles
North West of Tombstone on Gleeson Rd. The Old Jail and School House are
still standing.
Charleston Ghost Town
Ruins of some of the old adobe buildings still stand today. From
Tombstone take Old Charleston Rd. About 13 miles south towards Sierra Vista.
When you get to the bridge and railroad tracks, it’s best to park and hike
down the railroad tracks to the East. About a 1/4 mile down the tracks
you'll see a sign titled Charleston. At the sign, cross the river and proceed
up the slight hill.
